Finally, some good news.

We have been waiting for the histology lab to come back with the type of tumors mama has. The clinician said that what she has responds extremely well to the experimental chemo we are trying. So they are mixing her cocktail and we will start the first round Wednesday.

I told them that if I find out they are blowing smoke up my ass, they're gonna wish I'd let them run out on I-45 and get the beating over with. But then again I have to think they are on our side.

Something a little bad a** for your Sunday afternoon.

Case closed.

Women always say that giving birth is way more painful than a guy getting kicked in the nuts.

There is no way to prove that they are wrong, but a year or so after giving birth a woman will often say "It would be nice to have another child."

You never hear a guy say, "It would be nice to get kicked in the nuts again."

Just had a very nice visit.

My dad and my sister just left after a two day visit. My dad lives in Bush, La. My sister lives in Bitburg, Germany. I haven't seen her in 15 years. A good time was had reminiscing and getting reacquainted with great grand kids and all.

Tomorrow they head to Oklahoma to see my niece. I will miss them, again.

Little lotta at the Witless Relocation Program . She has already been a help and comfort to us in just a few days. She and her x2 make a handsome couple. I would say beautiful but I know you don't say that to a man that shaves his head. At least you don't say it to me. They have a kaboodle of problems that they are going through but her sweet spirit shines through. Go give her a shout and let her know I said hi.

Next is Fill Yer Hands. It appears he doesn't have a blog, but with a handle like that he should. Let me know if you do, sir.

Clocks in heaven.

'That's Mother Teresa's. The hands have never moved, indicating that she never told a lie.'
'Incredible,' said the man. 'And whose clock is that one?'

Doctors part deaux.

Mama got her port installed with no problem. We like her surgeon. He's a young gun that will look you in the eye and never waver nor pull punches. So...all day spent for a 15 minute surgery and 45 minute recovery. But we are ready to commence the fight next Tuesday.

Doctors

Took mama to see the surgeon yesterday. Her stoma is healing nicely. Tomorrow he will install her port line. Her first chemo will be next Tuesday.

One more astronaut is gone.

I have read this journal a few times, but posting it here really allowed me to study and ponder it much more deeply. It also raised so many questions that can not or will never be answered. Such is the way it goes. To those who have traveled with me on this journey, I hope you got something for your time. Thank you for your company.

We go in for blood work and chemo school.. Not the way we wanted to further our educations, but I guess this is one we don't want to fail.

Very nice weekend.

Yesterday we celebrated mama's birthday. I won't tell which one, 'cause I ain't stoopid. She came home from the hospital on Wednesday. Thursday we got set up with the Oncologist with the chemo. She is going to be taking an experimental drug called Avastin, thus we won't have to pay anything for the treatment.

Anyway. Yesterday was a wonderful day with our son and daughter, their spouses and all the grand kids. I cooked a brisket for about 8 hours. We had home made venison sausage, home made boudin, awesome potato salad, ranch beans, grilled corn on the cob, and a sweet strawberry cake. I wish I had taken pictures but we were having to much fun.

Today we were just quiet with mama reading from her kindle. The family got it as her birthday gift. She is an avid reader. It was just a very nice quiet day. I did get to watch two movies I hadn't seen. 'Salt' and 'Apaloosa" with Marlin Brando. Neither were Oscar winners but they were fun.

The other one is *Framboise Manor* Again I have been reading the blog for about two years. My laziness kept me from adding them to the roll. I have read the whole blog. Very neat stuff. Especially the Rainbow Trout. I know how tasty those are.

My apology to my readers.

There was a miscommunication in my last post and it was my fault. When I mention my best friend I was speaking of my wife. She will always be the best. I brought her home today and she is doing well. The Oncologist and I had a heart to heart today. Without chemo she will live 3 to 6 months. With chemo, which he feels she will take to, then she has 3 to 5 years of a good quality of life.

I will continue to blog. She asked me to. And I will continue to read my blogroll. Y'all are the best.

I will finish my Grandpa's Journal. There are only a few more, so I should.

My best friend of 33 years was diagnosed with advanced stage four cancer this weekend. We have a battle to wage and not many bullets. I am numb right now.

I just added two more to the blog roll. The first one is In Jennifer's Head. I'm sure most of you know her. I've been reading her for a while. It's just out of laziness that I neglected to add her to the roll.

The other one is Where the Hell is Murph... If you like bikes I think you will enjoy this. According to his info: was started as a Motorcycle Travelogue and Photojournal. Now in it's 3rd year on the road, May 2012 will be the start of my "7 Years, 7 Continents" Expedition in my sidecar.
